Happy St. Patrick’s Day

When I think of St. Patrick’s Day I always think of my Dad.  He just loved this day so much and for most of my childhood I thought I was 100% Irish because he told me that we were.  It wasn’t until Junior High school that I found out we weren’t.

Every St. Patrick’s Day he would buy corsages for my Mum my sister and myself and we would wear them proudly. We would go to the St. Patrick’s Day parade and when we were young, we would go to the local VFW and my sister would Irish step dance.  I wish I did it, but I was too shy.  Til this day I love to watch it and I regret that I never tried it.  One of my friends (Heidi) on our cheerleading squad would dance around the gymnasium while we were stretching and getting ready for practice, and I was always in awe of her.  She had the best legs, and her calves were amazing.

Of course, I always wear green on St. Patrick’s Day and make everyone in my family do the same.  My hubby is from Montreal, but he never questions our family tradition and always abides my wishes.  Here is a cute photo of my son and I when he was young.

One new tradition that I just loved to do when my son was young was make Leprechaun traps, we had so much fun.  Here is an example of one we made together.

An Irish Blessing

May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more and nothing, but happiness come through your door.

Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day
